How claims work
1. Contact your insurance carrier directly
Use the phone number or claims website provided by your carrier.
2. Have your policy number ready
It's on your declarations page or policy ID card.
3. Document damage if safe to do so
Take photos or video and write a brief description of what happened.
4. Save receipts and important records
Keep repair, replacement, lodging, and other related receipts.
5. Follow your carrier's claim instructions
Respond promptly to adjuster requests for information and documentation.
